Passion is infectious

Anyone hearing Ibraim Lapa, Director of Business Development, enthuse about the Training Academy will immediately be carried away by his fervour. “This is an honest-to-goodness milestone! Now we can finally show what we are capable of”, he explains, beaming with pride. To him, grinding encompasses more than just machining materials - it lays the foundation for perfect surfaces and is as much a science as it is a craft. This passion runs like a common thread through the entire concept of the academy. Even the signs directing you to the new Centre of Excellence clearly indicate: This is the way to the "Abrasive Experts" who will share their expertise in an area spanning 1,000 square meters.

Found at the heart of the academy is a large seminar room that stages the world of Klingspor with an magnificent graffito: Metal, construction, wood, transportation, and energy. But, teaching the theory is only the beginning here: the adjacent workshops are designed to directly apply the acquired theoretical knowledge in practical use cases. Whether they are beginners or professionals: Each participant with their unique challenges is placed front and centre.

Hands-on instead of PowerPoint

Boring presentations? Not here. The Klingspor Training Academy is a place where practice is pivotal. Ibraim Lapa puts it in a nutshell: “Our goal is to offer real solutions. It is all about finding the participants the solutions they need – and allowing them to apply them directly afterwards.”

How do I determine that abrasive disc that fits my material best? Does a more powerful angle grinder really make a difference? And, how do I produce the finest surface in the shortest possible time? Such questions can only be answered in hands-on trials. This is why the academy's workshops are equipped with state-of-the-art machines and workstations that are tailored to the needs of various industries. Seasoned experts are always available to share their knowledge and give practical tips.

"Challenge your Disk!" – The ultimate cutting disc test

One particular highlight is the comparison test: Participants can bring their own abrasive discs and pit them against other products under identical conditions. Which disc will last longer? Which one works with greater precision? Not only is the outcome educational, but it also offers a thrill. Lapa explains: “The experience of witnessing the differences up close is simply a lot of fun. And, it gives you a more acute understanding of why quality counts.”

The new premises of the Klingspor Training Academy have set a new milestone. They put us in a position to impart practical know-how on all relevant industries and each target group individually, allowing us to join forces with them in shaping the future of abrasive technology!

Tailor-made training sessions for every need

Klingspor has used the opening of the Training Academy as an opportunity to completely revise their training concept. Whether they are dealers, users or company employees – each participant is given exactly the training they require for their purposes. “An experienced building materials dealer has different questions than a trainee or a professional for stainless steel processing,” clarifies training manager Kevin Scholz. The objective is to train everyone in a manner that lets them better understand and use the products - be it for advising their customers in a more targeted manner or for making their own work more efficient.
